Get Involved!

There are many ways to get involved with NCATA:

1) Become a Member!

Join or renew your annual membership to show support for NCATA, and stay engaged through the NCATA Google Group and/or Facebook page!

2) Share Your Community News

Create a web user ID and add articles/events to the NCATA website, in order to promote your local happenings and help folks statewide stay connected!

3) Join an NCATA Committee

NCATA has several committees to work on focus areas, and we're always looking for help!

  • NCATA Policy Committee - this committee meets (by phone) more frequently during active legislative sessions, and works on the annual policy agenda.  The group tracks proposed legislation, develops position papers on behalf of NCATA, reaches out to elected leaders on important issues, and helps to create NCATA's annual policy agenda for Board adoption. Contact: Al Schroetel
  • NCATA Publicity & Alliances Committee - this committee engages in outreach efforts and membership recruitment, develops web content, creates marketing materials and ensures that NCATA is connected with like-minded organizations around the state. Contact: Julie White
  • Statewide Bike Summit Planning Committee - this new NCATA committee is working together to plan for a statewide bike summit in 2012.  Contact: Steven Hardy-Braz

4) Volunteer for an NCATA Event!

5) Help with an NCATA Wish List Item

  • Offer design services to help update NCATA brochures & print materials
  • Help us upgrade our Excel spreadsheet system to a web-based integrated CiviCRM membership database
  • Local Outreach -- distribute NCATA info at local events, organize local
volunteers to serve a Cycle NC rest stop on behalf of NCATA, or ask your
    club/organization to join NCATA!
  • Volunteer to help us with content development, design and layout for an NCATA newsletter

6) Represent Your Region as an NCATA Board Member

NCATA has annual elections at the general membership meeting each summer.  If you'd like to represent your region of the state in important statewide advocacy efforts, we need you!  The NCATA Board meets quarterly, and occasionally via conference call between quarterly meetings.  Board members are expected to serve on at least one committee and help with various tasks on behalf of the committees on which they serve.
